Healing our city, healing our w0rld

Minneapolis became known around the world following the murder of George Floyd in 2020. More recently, the January immigration raids brought fresh fear and uncertainty to many families, reminding us that the work of justice, reconciliation and belonging is far from complete. Yet beneath these headlines is another story—of communities choosing healing over hatred, relationship over division, and hope over despair. This gathering is an invitation not simply to visit Minneapolis, but to walk with those who continue that work.

BLACKSoNDAY

Observed annually BLACKSoNDAY invites people of every nation, culture, race, faith and Background to pause and unite as we remember those who lives that ended too soon and reaffirm a shared commitment to equal treatment for all! This Global observance was created by Marty K. Casey in May of 2020.

Healing our City, Healing our world

You are warmly invited to join us for Being Minneapolis: Healing Our City. Healing Our World, a sacred community gathering rooted in remembrance, healing, justice, peace, and the power of community to help restore our world.

We will begin on Saturday, August 8, at 10:30am at the intersection of Nicollet Avenue and 26th Street. Our Peace Walk takes us to George Floyd Square, where we will gather with local community. In the afternoon, we will visit community projects in North Minneapolis and learn from local leaders who are helping heal and transform the city from the ground up before having an early dinner together at the Indigenous Kitchen.

On Sunday, August 9, we will gather for the 7th annual BLACKSoNDAY, a day of community, reflection, speeches, music, healing, and shared purpose. This gathering will also be connected to a global broadcast, inviting people around the world to witness and participate in the healing message of Minneapolis.
