DUBAI CONVERGENCE

29 Nov – 3 Dec 2023

UNITY EARTH with many partner organizations is bringing an international delegation to participate in the UN’s COP 28 in Dubai. COP (Conference of the Parties) is the UN’s main international gathering each year dedicated to addressing Climate Change and global environmental issues. This year for the first time there will be a Faith Pavilion dedicated to showcasing the important role of Faith and spirituality in relation to climate and the environment in general.

Some of the partners producing the Dubai Convergence are the International Academy for Multicultural Cooperation, URI-Africa, The Hague Centre for Global Governance, Chishty Foundation, and Guru Nanak Gurudwara in Dubai. Hubcast Media will also be present and broadcasting for UNITY EARTH TV

The Faith Pavilion was co created by UNEP’s Faith for Earth Initiative, the Muslim Council of Elders and Partnership on Religion and Sustainable Development (PaRD). It is here at the Faith Pavilion that UNITY EARTH and Partners will be presenting on December1.

The Dubai Convergence presenting at the Faith Pavilion will focus on three key areas:

  1. the Power of Prayer
  2. the Role of Women as Agents of Transformation, and
  3. Sacred Activism for Sustainability

Pope Francis recently announced that he will also attend COP 28. This will be the first visit to COP by a pontiff in its 28 year history. This follows the recent publication of Laudate Deum, an important follow up by Pope Francis to his historic encyclical Laudato si. Such high level participation from the Vatican is representative of the caliber of faith leaders, diplomats, artists and social activist from all walks of life that are coming together for COP 28.
