International cultural delegation inspires local youth
On January 31, 2019 an international UNITY EARTH cultural delegation visited the High School for Excellence and Innovation (HSEI) in New York City to share messages of collaboration and resilience from around the world. The visit was an opportunity to connect with the local Inwood community in the lead up to the UNITY EARTH Lift Off concert and live broadcast at the nearby United Palace on February 2nd.
“The school vision is to enhance awareness and respect for the talents and gifts of all cultures,” said Tyona Washington, Founding Principal of HSEI. “We are very excited for this opportunity to partner with UNITY EARTH and have our students be inspired through direct contact with various cultures from around the world. HSEI is in its first year partnering with New York City’s new initiative CREATES, a collective of schools working with a framework that promotes Culturally Responsive Environments Attaining Transformative Equitable Solutions.
